Life at The Emsley
Updated: Jun 11, 2018
We're two Kiwis who wanted a change of scene. This blog is about The Emsley Guest House in Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, England, and the adventures my husband and I have both with running it and living in England. In 2017 we sold our lodge in New Zealand and, in September that year, opened Emsley's front door to our first guests.
The Emsley was built in 1865 by a Mr Greene, from Birmingham. She is a mid-terrace, 3-story building that's 'Victorian High Gothic' in her architectural style, which is so rare / unusual that her street face is protected by local bylaw. More about her later. We'll add regularly to the blog to keep you updated about life and events in Stratford, at the Emsley and us. Nothing fancy or complicated, just short & sweet. We hope you enjoy it.
Regards, Liz & Chris Salt

How beautiful the trees are beside the Avon river, here in Stratford upon Avon. I like to watch them sway in the breeze over my afternoon coffee at the riverside RSC cafe. These ones have their autumn colours.
